The flagship MTV network in America has made a cultural phenomenon out of its popular `Jersey Shore’ programme. Now its UK counterpart hopes to duplicate that success with `Geordie Shore’, which features eight young people from Newcastle. The city serves as the stomping grounds for the gang of tanned, buff individuals who live in a house complete with shared bedrooms and, of course, a hot tub. The `Geordie Shore’ cast includes party animal Jay, who is rarely photographed with his shirt on, and pint-sized bundle of fun Sophie, who was fired from her job as a shot-girl waitress for drinking away the profits.
