Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett are bringing a new science fiction misery series on the Syfy channel. 12 Monkies is based on the film with the same name that appeared in 1995. Based on the ability and technology of time-travel, theis show follows the attempts of one man to stop a disaster from happening.

James Cole (played by Aaron Stanford – X2. X-Men: The Last Stand, The Hills Have Eyes) is a chrononaut, a time traveler, a witness of the post-apocalyptic word, who jumps back in time, into our present from the cancerous year of 2043. In 2017 an organization known as “Army of the Twelve Monkeys”, for reasons yet unknown, releases a deadly virus that manages to kill almost the entire human race.

Those that remain struggle to survive. But among them, a small team of scientist is working on way to stop the nightmare from happening. They recruit James, a man with a shady past, and send him back in time to kill the one person that they consider responsible for the disaster – Leland Goines. But things never go as planned and James will find himself in need of help, from the very person he ends up kidnapping.
