When they track Danny down at his grandmother’s house, they witness Hattie’s plea to get Linda to wear her old black wedding dress. Hattie is under the impression that she has to pay for Linda and Philip’s wedding, so she is trying to find ways to cut corners. After hearing that Danny was promoted at work, Hattie taps her grandson to help her foot the bill. Danny confesses that he can’t afford to help pay any of the expenses, reluctantly admitting—in front of his gleeful co-workers—that he did not get a raise with his promotion. Later, Linda eases all worries when she reveals that Philip plans to pay for the wedding.
